Confirmation from USCIS of receipt of 2nd I600A application
.
.
Today, 8/31/07, I received a letter in the mail from the USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services) confirming that they had received my application to renew my I600A (since the 1st one - and I171h - had expired on 7/10/07).
As you will recall, from my earlier post on 7/28/07, I had quickly put the application in the mail, after my Social Worker called and said something about free renewals for 3 years if my application gets post-marked by 7/28/07.

The letter from today says "Date You Filed 8/5/2007" (I hope they still go by the post mark of 7/28/07 - received in their office 7/31/07 - before 8/1/2007 - for the free renewals and NOT by 8/5/2007! Yikes!). "I-600A: A Homestudy by a State-certified agency must be received in this office by: 8/3/2008. IF YOU DO NOT SUBMIT THE HOMESTUDY BY THE ABOVE DATE, YOUR CASE WILL BE DENIED. (You will receive a fingerprint appointment notice after this office receives your homestudy report)". "If you fail to appear for the fingerprint appointment, your I-600A application will be considered abandoned..."
I also received a call from my Social Worker on 8/30/07, reminding me to set up a Homestudy visit at my house. I think I will schedule it for November 2007. As I mentioned before, I'm in no hurry to have the 2nd I-600A and I171h processed, because I don't want it to expire before I travel to China and have to renew it a THIRD time!
Regarding estimated time lines, if I send in the updated Homestudy to USCIS in November 2007, I will receive my fingerprinting appointment in December 2007. (This will be 2 years exactly from my first Homestudy that was done in November 2005, and my 1st set of fingerprints that were taken on 12/13/05). The I171h's in my state have been processed very quickly, but even if it takes 4 months to receive the new one, I'll still receive it by around April 2008. As I've stated in my monthly posts when the referrals come in, my Estimated Best Case Scenario to receive a referral is April 2008 (with travel to China in June 2008). Worst Case Scenario is to receive a referral in October 2009 (with travel to China in December 2009).
